Helena was vibrant, full of life, and always had a smile on her face that could light up any room. However, unknown to everyone, Helena had been battling a secret enemy within her own body—a brain tumour.

Helena's world changed one fateful day when she experienced a sudden and severe headache. Worried, she decided to seek medical attention. After a series of tests and consultations, Helena received the devastating news that she had a brain tumour. The prognosis was grim, and doctors warned her about the challenges she would face on her journey ahead.

But Helena was not one to give in easily. She resolved to fight with every ounce of strength she had. With unwavering determination, she embraced her diagnosis as an opportunity to make the most of her life and inspire others along the way.

Helena faced the surgical removal of her tumour, but she refused to let fear take control. She surrounded herself with a supportive network of friends and family who rallied behind her, providing unwavering love and encouragement. She first came to our practice in 2015, following her discharge from hospital, and continued with Speech Therapy to support her language recovery for a number of years.

As Helena continued her recovery, she rediscovered a hidden talent— painting. She poured her heart and soul into creating artworks that touch the hearts of many.

Her story has become a beacon of hope for those facing their own battles, reminding them that they are not alone.

Although Helena could not return to work, she found strength and support through Headway, the association for people with brain injury, in Hyde Park. Attending groups there provided Helena with further motivation, as she connected with others who had struggled with similar circumstances. Through it all, she held onto her unwavering faith and the support of her loved ones.

Her story has become a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of never giving up.

Today, Helena continues to inspire others with her story. She has become a symbol of hope, resilience, and the indomitable human spirit. Her journey reminds us that even in the face of life's greatest challenges, we can find strength, inspire others, and create a legacy that transcends our own existence. She recently took part in the Mr. and Mrs. Celebration pageant at the village where she stays, and conveyed to the audience the same gentleness of spirit and attitude of gratitude that we have come to know her by.

Helena's story serves as a reminder that the human spirit is capable of overcoming even the most daunting odds. Through her unwavering determination, she not only conquered her own battle but also inspired countless others to keep fighting, to believe in themselves, and to find hope in the darkest of times. And in doing so, Helena has left an indelible mark on the world—a legacy of courage, resilience, and unwavering hope.
